Allow Mapping of CC to PBC Macro Execution

It would be super sweet if the PBC's MIDI implementation allowed you to map an incoming CC message to the execution of a PBC macro.

Interesting idea. At this point, you can only do that by using a CC Linked button.

Well, you learn something new every day! Didn't know about the CC Linking feature -- looks awesome! I will have to experiment with it, but it seems like it should satisfy my need perhaps even better than linking a CC directly to a macro.

One follow up question on the semantics of CC Linking: If I enable CC Linking for a button, I assume I can then use either a CC message or press the button itself to change the button state?

Yes, that's correct.

Ok so for the first time I am trying to receive MIDI messages into the PBC/6x. I understand I would need a MIDI in/out Y cable if I wanted to use PBC/6x for both MIDI in and MIDI out simultaneously. But if I want the PBC to ONLY RECEIVE messages, do I still need the Y cable? Is there a pinout diagram somewhere I could use to build my own cable for use in this receive-only scenario? Thanks!

If you're only using it as an input, you would wire pins 2, 4 and 5 of the incoming MIDI signal to PBC pins 2, 1 and 3 respectively.

I should also mention that you should use the bare wire in the cable to connect pin 2 on each side, otherwise you could end up with noise.

Made the DIY cable and the CC Link feature worked great! I officially retract my enhancement request that started this thread. :)

Thanks again, @rjmmusic, for such an outstanding product that still, after 7 years of use, continues to amaze me!
