way to mount a minieffect gizmo in a rack

I've got an effect gizmo, rack mounted, great. I needed 2 extra loops so bought a mini effects gizmo to cover those 2 extra loops (no doubt I'll use the other 3 too). I don't want to put this in a rack drawer as it moves around, I want to position it next to my effects gizmo, I obviously didn't want to buy a 12 loop rack mount for the sake of 2 loops, but I was wondering if there is anything like the Voodoo labs Hex rack mount kit, or a tidy way of mounting it into the rack.

I can do the obvious, put it in the drawer, stick Velcro on it onto of the effect gizmo, but I'd like to be a little tidier and solid if possible.

Sorry, we're not doing any custom work at this time. It should be possible for someone with some metalworking skills to make brackets, but we don't do any metal work in house.

Hi Ron,

So we are mounting a couple Mini Effects Gizmos in a touring rig for a client.
We have the appropriate angle brackets if we were to use them on the four screw holes on the sides of the unit.
So here are the questions:
1. Would it be safe to use these side holes (we will also have a sorbothane washer between the unit and the bracket).
2. Assuming you would deem those usable, we would need info on the screws (size, type, length) so that we can get new screw to accommodate the thickness of the washer and bracket.

Thanks,

Phillip

Hey Phillip, I hope this finds you well.

The distance from the surface of the MEGX outside cover to the inside of the enclosure base PEM is 0.26". So I recommend you determine the thickness of the bracket and any washers being used, then add 0.25" to the length of the pan head screw you'll be using. For example, if the combined thickness of the bracket and a washer is 0.25", then I recommend a 0.50" inch screw. The thread is 4-40.

Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

That's the info I needed...
The brackets are perfect and the bottom isolation washers will allow the entire unit to float above tray with isolation during use and in transit.
I will send you a photo when completed.

Thanks,

Phillip
