Overture USB-C Stopped Working?

Hi guys,

I hope you are all well, just in the middle of building small rack setup using an older MEG, GT22, and Axe FXIII. I've got a couple of pedals in the loops of the MEG one is a Dark Glass compressor and the other is an Overture I recently bought 2nd hand. Great sounded drive pedal so many options and presets using it with the GT.

Just one issue I've noticed when plugging in a USB C cable to my Mac to use the editor, it wasn't working at first with the pedal connected to a Cioks Sol. I then disconnected it from the power supply and the Overture connected to my Mac and the editor. It even did a firmware update. I then unplugged it and connected it back to the Cioks and it powers on like normal. For some reason the USB C won't connected when plugging in again, I've tried different cables and another Mac and nothing seems to work.

I'm assuming I don't need a particular USB C cable? or could it be the actual USB C socket?

Many thanks

Paul

It shouldn't need a particular USB cable. Macs are kind of particular with regard to USB C devices, in a way that I haven't been able to understand fully. Have you tried plugging in the pedal with just a USB cable, no power supply? It should power itself from the USB connection, and might have a better chance of connecting.

Hi Ron,

I did indeed, in fact that's the only time my Mac would recognise the connection is when I unplugged it from the power supply and just plugged it in via the USB C cable. It powered up and connected, I was even able to update the firmware. Since uplugging it and then plugging it in again I haven't been able to connect it to my Mac on its own or plugged into the power supply.

Hi Ron,

I connected the Overture to my Mac Studio last night and this notification came up. It's strange because it doesn't come up on my MacBook Pro or Air. What do you think faulty USB C port on the Overture?

Other devices work fine on the same usb c port on my Mac Studio so it can't be the port.

Many thanks

Paul

If it's complaining about too much power, then it likely is a faulty USB port or cable. If the cable works fine with other devices, then it probably is the USB port on the pedal.

Definitely not the cables I've tried a few and they all work fine. Is there anyway I can get it repaired? I know it's probably well out of warranty by now and I live in the UK also.

Thanks again

Paul
