With my new found love for the Kemper and how wonderfully it plays with the Mastemind, I had two suggestions that may not be too hard to implement.
I love the concept of the Mastermind to create songs by putting different presets together. We all often use a limited set of sounds and it makes much more sense to only store one preset “BigSolo” on the Kemper (or whatever) and then recall that in however many songs that sound is needed. That avoids endless duplication of presets which down the road would lead to endless tweaking if one needs to change one parameter on all 29 copies of the preset that I made for different songs - very thoughtful feature!
this works great, but I have two suggestions for improvements:
1) it would be great if I could send a few custom CC messages when a given preset is recalled in order to slightly tweak the sound, e.g. in one song, I want “BigSolo” with chorus and in the other song I don’t want the chorus but instead turn on a treble booster, all of which are available as options on the preset and I don’t want to tap dance. Hence, if I could send some additional custom MIDI messages with the preset change for different songs, I could use the preset to its full potential while still having only one button press.
2) when storing presets, most of us will give it some suggestive name that explains what it is, possibly what amp it is based on or even simple names like ”clean”, “crunch”, “rock” etc. However, in the context of a song, these presets serve different functions. Hence, it would be great if I could give these presets custom names in different songs, hence “clean” would be called “intro” in song A and “bridge” in Song B. In that way I would have a much better visual hint when performing on stage in low light and high stress so that I don’t need to remember that “Mesa81ch2” is actually my lead sound.
I really love the mastermind. It is such a great piece of gear and the workflow is superb. If I could do these two things, it would be absolutely perfect for what I want to do with it.
